Shalev Ad-El was born in Ramat Gan, Israel in 1968.  As recipient of the AICF scholarships, he graduated from the Royal Conservatory of The Hague and won the first prize at the Francois Shapira Competition in 1987.
        As a soloist he has played with most of the leading orchestras in Israel including the Israeli Philharmonic Orchestra.

         Both as conductor and harpsichordist he frequents some of the world's most prestigious venus such as  Wigmore Hall of London, Carnegie Hall, the 92Y and the Frick Collection of NY,  Suntury Hall  of Tokyo, Brugge festival, Bachfest of Leipzig,  Bozar of Brussels, LG centre of Seoul, Handelfestspiele of Halle,  Goettingen Handel Festival,  Utrecht Festival etc.
       Ad-El is a member of Il Gardellino and The Dorian Consort, Berlin Philharmonic Stadivarius Soloists and the music director of Accademia Daniel and Oslo Baroque Soloists.
      
       From 1997-2007 he acted as a regular guest conductor and director of the series “Baroque Matinee” of the Halle Philharmonic orchestra, 2009-2010 as a regular guest conductor of Bogota Philharmonic, and 2013-2017 as permanent conductor of Hanoi Philharmonic, and 2013-2016 as music director and chief conductor of Israel's highest ranking chamber orchestra, the NKO.
He also conducted among all Berlin Symphony, Hong Kong APA orchestra, Israel Symphony  RIshon Letzion (Israel Opera orchestra) , Israel Chamber Orchestra, Jerusalem Symhphony, Beer Sheva sinfonietta, Bangkok Symphony, Jerusalem Baroque Orchestra, Baroccada baroque orchestra, Il Gardellino baroque orquestra, Pardubice Baroque orchestra, Music viva Amsterdam, Norwegian Soloists Choir, Panama National Symphony, Rio de Janeiro  Unirio orchestra, Peruvian National Symphony and national youth orchestra,  Albanian Radio Orchestra.
     
     Shalev Ad-El already recorded over 80 CD's for labels such as Deutsche Gramophone ,Chandos, Accent, Denon, CPO.
    ​He also held regular teaching positions at the Dresden Academy for Early Music (Prof. for the harpsichord 92-93), Brno Masaryk University (92-00) and Boston-University (Prof. for the harpsichord 99) and held master classes among all in Moscow conservatory, Tallinn, Rheinsberg castle, Florida State University, Interlocken MI, Bloomington IN, Longy school of music, Fukuoka festival, Beijing Academy of music, Instituto superior de la Habana, Conservatorio de Lima, Conservatorio de La Paz, La universidad Catolica de Buenos Aires, Academy for performing arts in Hong Kong, Sydney chamber music festival, Seoul National university, Manila UDP  and in UNIRIO of Rio de Janeiro.

     In 2008 he was awarded the German FASCHPREIS for his lifelong contribution for reviving central-german music.
